Barista (Full Time & Part Time)
Position Summary:
The Barista is responsible for delivering exceptional coffee and café experiences to our guests across both the café and restaurant. Combining craft, warmth, and hospitality, this role prepares high-quality espresso, coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, engages guests with a welcoming presence, and serves as a knowledgeable ambassador for the resort’s kitchen offerings and guest activities. The ideal candidate is a passionate, service-minded team member who takes pride in their craft, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and helps bring the resort’s hospitality to life in a serene and authentic ranch setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Craft & Beverage Preparation
- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and specialty beverages to recipe and presentation standards
- Maintain consistency in extraction, milk texturing, and drink presentation throughout each shift
- Follow menu specs and seasonal offerings as directed by the Lead Barista and Café & Restaurant Manager
- Uphold high standards for taste, presentation, and consistency across every beverage
Guest Experience & Service
- Warmly greet and welcome guests, taking accurate orders with a personal and attentive touch
- Guide guests through café and restaurant menu options and offer knowledgeable recommendations
- Maintain familiarity with the kitchen’s offerings — including menu items, pastries, seasonal specials, and grab-and-go options — so you can confidently answer guest questions and make thoughtful recommendations
- Serve as a knowledgeable ambassador for the resort’s guest activities and offerings — including trail rides, cow cuddles, spa services, recreational activities, and events — so guests can plan their day and feel welcomed into the full ranch experience
- Anticipate guest needs and personalize the café and restaurant experience with thoughtful, gracious service
- Handle guest requests, dietary needs, and concerns with warmth and a solutions-focused approach
- Create a welcoming, inviting atmosphere across the café and restaurant that reflects the resort’s brand and hospitality
Café & Restaurant Operations
- Support the daily operation of the café and restaurant, including opening, service, and closing procedures across both outlets
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the café, restaurant bar area, service stations, and equipment
- Operate the point-of-sale system and handle cash and card transactions accurately
- Monitor beverage and supply levels, replenishing as needed throughout service
- Keep espresso machines, grinders, and other equipment properly cleaned and maintained during shifts
- Assist with restocking pastries, café supplies, and grab-and-go items
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards and regulations
- Maintain proper handling and storage of milk, food items, and consumables
- Handle and dispose of waste, coffee grounds, and cleaning materials according to guidelines
- Report any equipment issues, spills, or safety hazards to a manager promptly
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Lead Barista, fellow baristas, servers, culinary, and guest services teams to ensure a seamless resort experience
- Communicate clearly and pitch in wherever needed during busy periods and special events
- Maintain a calm and collected composure during high-volume service and unexpected situations
- Support special events, seasonal programming, and guest activities as needed
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and service-oriented team environment
Qualifications:
- Prior barista, café, or hospitality experience preferred, but not required — training is provided
- Basic knowledge of espresso preparation, milk texturing, and coffee drinks (or willingness to learn)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a warm and welcoming presence
- Ability to work efficiently and gracefully in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Comfort operating espresso machines, grinders, and café equipment after training
- Willingness to learn and maintain familiarity with the kitchen’s menu offerings and the resort’s guest activities so you can serve as an informed ambassador for the ranch experience
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and work behind the bar for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience at a specialty café, luxury hotel, restaurant, or resort
- Barista certifications or formal coffee training (SCA, guild, or equivalent)
- Warm, gracious, and detail-oriented approach
- Passion for coffee, hospitality, and creating memorable guest experiences
- Dependable, energetic, and self-motivated
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and willingness to pitch in
- Interest in ranch life, the outdoors, or retreat-style environments
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Work Environment:
This role is based onsite at a ranch resort and involves work behind the café bar, throughout the café and restaurant, and across adjacent guest areas. The position requires standing, walking, and working with heat, steam, hot liquids, and cleaning chemicals for extended periods. The Barista must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a friendly, polished, and professional presence in a tranquil ranch setting.
